Hi, and welcome! I’ve been exploring computers and technology since 1981, back when having a personal computer meant learning to program it yourself. After more than two decades as a technology educator, I’m still a total geek who gets excited about new tech – but I’m also increasingly thoughtful about how we use it.

Just like I was using the internet before the World Wide Web existed, I started experimenting with AI long before ChatGPT. This perspective shapes how I think about technology: not as something to consume passively, but as an active tool for empowerment and positive change.

Why This Site Exists

I believe we need more personal, non-commercial spaces on the internet. No tracking, no ads, no constant pressure to buy something. Just authentic sharing and connection. I was inspired by Henrik Karlsson’s idea that a blog post can be like a long and complex search query to find fascinating people.

I’m not well suited to social media, so this site and my email newsletter are an experiment. Will it work to connect me with others, some known, some not? We’ll see. Even if nobody reads what I write, maintaining a regular writing practice has value – though I hope my experiences and reflections might be useful to others.

What I Do

In my classroom, I’m doing some exciting work integrating AI tools and project-based learning. I love helping students and fellow educators discover how technology can help them reach their goals. Beyond education, I create experimental electronic music that blends downtempo and ambient styles with influences ranging from early hip-hop and jazz to Kraftwerk, Boards of Canada, and Fela Kuti. I also co-founded a project that helps restore traditional music to the people of Cambodia.

What You’ll Find Here

This site is my little corner of the internet where I share thoughts on technology, education, and creativity. You’ll find project writeups, reflections, reviews, and occasional music releases (which are always name-your-price – including free). I’m here to share what I’m learning and doing, and hopefully connect with others who share similar interests.

Welcome to my digital garden. Feel free to explore.
