I use Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, as part of how I write, build, and maintain this site. Here’s what that means in practice.

My writing process

The idea for every post and newsletter is mine. Much of the content I publish on this site is written entirely by me, with a quick pass for typos, flow, and grammar. When I use AI to develop posts more extensively, however, I’ll usually start by talking my idea through and use voice transcription to capture what I want to say. I’ll then ask Claude for follow-up questions, the kind that surface gaps or push me toward specifics, and I’ll answer those the same way, out loud. Claude then takes the resulting transcript and organizes it into a draft. I go through that draft before anything gets published and decide, line by line, whether it authentically represents me and says what I meant. Where it does, I leave it. Where it doesn’t, I rewrite it. I’ve also built reference documents on my own writing style and voice, drawn from years of my own writing, so drafts start closer to sounding like me in the first place.

My policy is this: I originate every idea and argument myself, I supply the raw material by talking it through in my own words, and I hold final editorial judgment over everything that gets published. I use Claude to organize and draft from that material, not to originate it.

Beyond writing, I also use Claude for:

  • Processing and organizing links for my monthly newsletter
  • General research and troubleshooting tasks around running this site

Why I’m disclosing this

Some readers consider any AI involvement in content a dealbreaker. I respect that position, and I’d rather you know upfront than feel misled after the fact. What I’d ask is that you not equate “AI was part of the process” with “low effort” or “not worth reading.” I don’t have unlimited time to write; this is spare-time work I do without pay, and this workflow helps make it sustainable for me to keep publishing regularly.
